Larimar Sterling Silver earstuds - Atlantis (ausverkauft)
Striking oval smooth Larimar set in sterling silver. Earrings that will remind you of the lost city of Atlantis.
Larimar is a relatively new find that occurs only in one place on earth, Dominican Republic - the island of Hispaniola, in the Caribbean Sea.
Originally discovered in 1916 by a Spanish priest. In 1974, the American Peace Corps Volunteer, Norman Rilling, and the Dominican, Miguel Mendez, rediscovered the stone on the beaches of Barahona. This striking form of the mineral pectolite has a sutle blue with white veining, reminiscent of tropical seas.
Named for Mr. Mendez’s daughter “Larissa” and the Spanish word for sea “Mar”, Larimar contains the blue hues of the caribbean sea, with white and gray 'clouds'. It is a stunning stone.
The available quantity at the mine is unknown, which makes the future supply of Larimar uncertain.
On a Moh's scale Larimar is a 4-5.5.
