CALYPSO | Solid Gold necklace with Seahorses nestling a Watermelon Tourmaline (made to order)
- Available: 1
- Unique No: 1589
A pair of enchanted seahorses are holding a mesmerising freeform Watermelon Tourmaline slice and an elegant Pearl.
This necklace has been handcrafted in solid 9ct yellow Gold.
Running alongside its stylish chain there are three faceted Tourmaline roundells in green, pink and yellow,
which are interlinked by Gold circles, giving this chain a dangly, playful factor.
The inspiration for this necklace has been the great Jacques Cousteau and his undersea explorations
as he famously said: “The sea, once it casts its spell, holds one in its net of wonder forever.”
Handcrafted at the ADFK studio this is a unique piece of fine jewellery that will transport you to the beauty of our oceans.
The Watermelon Tourmaline is a rare Tourmaline variety that displays three different colours in the same crystal:
Green (the skin of the watermelon), pink (the sweet fruit) and white (the rind).
The colours of the watermelon tourmaline occur 100% naturally, being a rare occurrence in nature.
This necklace is part of my 'Under Water’ collection celebrating the beauty of sea creatures.
Did you know the species seahorse, Hippocampus, actually means horse caterpillar or horse sea monster?
My technique of direct casting renders a high detail.
The entire piece has been designed and handcrafted, including the casting, here in my workshop in Yorkshire.
There are matching earrings with these solid Gold seahorses available on request.
Tourmalines are amazing, but if you were born in October, the Tourmaline is also your birthstone.
Its name comes from the Sinhalese (Sri Lankan) word 'tura mali', meaning 'the stone of mixed colours'.
Tourmalines are usually given on 8th Wedding Anniversaries.

The frame holding the 4.18ct Watermelon Tourmaline slice (16.8x14mmx1.9mm) is 1.7mm wide.
The white freshwater Pearl is 4cm in diameter.
