WHITE ON BLACK | Button Pearl ring in Black Rhodium Silver (Sold Out)

This ring comprises a quadruple spiral of galvanised Black Rhodium/Palladium on Sterling Silver with a large white Button Pearl.
The edgy trapezoid profile of the four shanks with its dark Rhodium contrasts the smooth white Pearl with its beautiful lustre.
It’s an AAA-quality freshwater Button Pearl.
Designed and handcrafted at my workshop in Yorkshire this is a one-off piece.

The sparkling beauty of the Pearl has been cherished since the dawn of mankind.
According to the ancient Greek belief, Jewellery with a Pearl is capable of promoting marital bliss and eliminate emotional imbalances.
The technique to enhance Pearl forming in shells and oysters has been used since the year 1893.
A little object or tissue of a donor shell is implanted into the shell and around it forms a protective layer by layer and eventually a Pearl is formed.
Cultured pearls can then be harvested in a very sustainable way in harmony with nature.
The Pearl is a symbol of faithfulness integrity and wisdom.
It is also said to have calming qualities, too.
The Pearl is the birthstone for the ones born in June.

The precious metal Rhodium is twice as valuable as Gold and it gives this ring an elegant and outstanding look.
It prevents tarnishing of the Silver and is commonly used in plating of white gold in wedding bands for example.
Due to a speciality technique it can be darkened to display this stunning contrasting look of a dark grey metal, called Black Rhodium.
However, Black Rhodium is not quite as hard as white Rhodium and if this ring is to be worn daily it may need to be re-plated occasionally.
Pearls are natural objects and also demand gentle handling, i.e. it’s generally advised taking jewellery with pearls off for washing up or cleaning the house.
My thick-layered Rhodium plating is always preceded by a layer of Palladium, another precious metal of the Platinum family, which increases
the plating durability and won’t cause any allergies as for instance the common practice of pre-plating with nickel under Rhodium would.

Measurements:
The Pearl has a diameter of 8 mm and is 6 mm high.
The ring is 10 mm at its widest at the top and 4.5 mm at the bottom.
Each of the ring shank’s convolutions is 1.5 mm wide.
The ring shank is 1.1 mm strong.

Ringsize:
This unique ring is a UK size K (US size 5), which is a 49 mm inside circumference and a 16 mm inside diameter.
This is immediately available.
