Legend has it that a man is allowed and has to kiss any woman standing underneath a mistletoe
and the woman should not refuse this, or otherwise this will cast a spell of bad luck.
It might work all year round with this twig that you can wear or hang over your door, because it doesn’t wilt.
Ancient northern myths also speak of this tradition increasing good luck in finding a soulmate and
a fertile life.
The scientific name for mistle toe is Viscum Album, and it implies that the plant has white fruit in the winter.
It is evergreen and so helped our northern forefathers through the bleak winters, growing on otherwise barren
trees as cheerful green coloured balls.
The plant is traditionally used in cancer medicine and there are pharmaceutical extracts that have rendered promising results
in clinical trials.
Although it is, strictly speaking, a parasitic plant without its own roots in the ground,
recent studies showed, it does add to diversity in ecosystems, giving birds food in the winter and increasing
the spreading of the tree’s own fruits and seeds through them.
Moonstone is surrounded by a good deal of mystique and magic and this one is shimmering in dark blue.
In many cultures, for example in India, it is regarded as a holy, magical gemstone.
In India, Moonstones are also regarded as 'dream stones' which bring the wearer beautiful visions at night.
Moonstone is one of the two birthstone of June, together with the Pearl.
