These earrings carry the most stunning faceted Sea Blue Chalcedony spheres and have hooks made of Sterling Silver.
Technically, chalcedony (kal SED' uh nee) is any form of microcrystalline or cryptocrystalline quartz,
meaning any form of quartz whose crystals are too small to be seen without high magnification.
The various types differ in colour due to metallic impurities, such as iron, nickel, copper, and titanium present during crystallization.
Chalcedony is known as the 'speaker's stone', it is believed to have a calming effect and speaks of spirit and trust.
The name may have been derived from the Greek port city of Chalcedon through which this gemstone was traded 2500 years ago.
The ancient civilizations of Egypt, Greece and Rome used varieties of Chalcedony in jewellery and carvings.
They were believed to imbue their holders with certain powers.
The spheres have a diameter of 8mm.
