Elegant handmade in the heart of Hessle, solid sterling silver cufflinks coat of arms, the design combines both texture (matt) and polished silver finishes. These cufflinks feature a 'double' swivel fitting. This means they are easy to put through the button hole and always sit well on the shirt.

The history of cufflinks... According to the National Cufflink Society, evidence of their use can be found in ancient hieroglyphics in King Tut's tomb. But cufflinks as we know them were first used during the 1700s. Shirt cuffs were originally fastened using ribbons or tape ties. However, during the mid-17th Century shirt sleeves started to be fastened with sleeve buttons, two buttons often made of precious metals, connected by a metal loop. These sleeve buttons are what we would recognise as cufflinks today and were exclusively used by the upper classes.
On "The count of Monte-Cristo" Alexandre Dumas's novel, the novel describes Baron Danglars's elegantly adorned cuffs;
"so splendid an equipage must needs be all that was admirable and enviable, more especially when they gazed on the enormous diamond that glittered in his shirt, and the red ribbon that depended from his button hole"
